Even after the fireworks of Independence Day are over, the skies over Stowe, VT, still have some spectacles left in store. This year the 32nd annual Stoweflake Hot Air Balloon Festival will be held July 9-11 at Stoweflake Resort, with more than 25 vibrantly colored balloons of all shapes and sizes taking to the heavens for a weekend celebration of one of the oldest forms of aviation.

Fun for All

The three-day Stoweflake Hot Air Balloon Festival kicks off Friday, July 9 at 4pm with live music, a social tent featuring delicious local food, beer, and wine, plus a gift shop and much, much more! The balloons will take to the heavens for sunset launches Friday and Saturday at 7pm, with additional sunrise launches at 6:30am on Saturday and Sunday. Admission to this family-friendly evening festival is $10 (under 12 are free), and there are activities and attractions for everyone to enjoy. However, if you wish to skip the festival and simply enjoy the beautiful solitude of a sunrise launch, there is no admission (and no vendors or festival attractions, so come prepared).

Take a Ride

If you want to jump into the wild blue yonder, you have a few options. Climb aboard a balloon for a tethered ride for just $10, no reservation required. For the ultimate experience, you can reserve a private balloon ride with an expert captain ($275pp), an excellent way to view the scenic Green Mountains.
