Since 1974, the McCarthy Family has been serving breakfast and lunch to the families of the greater Stowe area for more than four decades. Over the years, the kitchen has remained consistent with its homespun family recipes and hospitality. Diane, the current family matriarch, pays homage to the Irish heritage with decoration reminiscent of the Emerald Isle interspersed throughout the dining area. The wooden booths which sit along the windows are perfect for families and on those sunny summer days, the restaurant has outdoor seating. On any given morning, Diane can be seen making her way around McCarthy’s in Stowe, chatting with locals and out-of-towners alike, warming them with her Irish charm.
On the Menu at McCarthy’s Restaurant in Stowe VT
The menu offers a wide range of morning classics such as waffles, pancakes, French toast, omelets, eggs benedicts, and all of the familiar sides. Daily specials are posted on a chalk board for all to see…the skillet special is a family favorite of our own concierge. The kitchen also presents several gluten-free and vegetarian dishes on the menu. If you visit for a quick bite and a coffee to go, the bakery counter serves several types of muffins, coffee cake, cinnamon rolls, and scones, just to name a few. At lunchtime, the menu is equally satisfying with items that include salads, soups and sandwiches. The chicken salad wrap is recommended; it is made with walnuts, bleu cheese, dried cranberries and celery. The panini sandwich menu section has three options: The Tuscan, The Vermonter, and The Cubano. The Vermonter is especially excellent since it comes with maple ham, apple, honey-cup mustard and that famous Vermont specialty, Cabot cheddar. Additionally, McCarthy’s Restaurant serves a varied selection of burgers and pub fare like fish & chips, deli-style sandwiches, quesadillas, and soup combos. Additionally, the restaurant also provides catering services and take-out orders.
