The Alchemist

This family-owned and operated craft brewery specializing in fresh, unfiltered IPA, is the official home of the ever-popular Heady Topper, a double India Pale Ale named “America’s Most Coveted Beer” and “America’s Most Loved Craft Beer.” Get sampler tastes of all that’s on tap and purchase your favorite brews and merchandise at their new, state-of-the-art facility.

Von Trapp Brewing

Following in true Austrian tradition, Von Trapp Brewing is brewing new American versions of traditional European beers. The newly opened Bierhall, on the grounds of the famed Trapp Family Lodge, is a gathering place to enjoy fresh lagers and a selection of freshly prepared Austrian lunch and dinner selections, and, of course, purchase beer and other bierhall goodies.

Idletyme Brewing Company

Idletyme Brewing features small-batch craft lagers that range from straw colored golden, big and hoppy double IPA’s, Belgian-influenced ales, limited seasonal experiments, to classic Bavarian Weizens. Get a close up look at their state-of-the-art copper brewhouse, inside its legendary pub, and enjoy the famous six-sample “Brew-ski.” A kid- and pet-friendly outdoor patio, and fresh farm-to-table fare, makes this brewery a favorite among families.

Located in Waterbury, just 8 miles south of Stowe, this quaint bar and brewery serves true southern comfort food and some of Vermont’s finest barbeque. Brewing close to 10 different styles of beer at any given time, including pilsners, hoppy blondes, and double IPAs, it is definitely worth the drive!

Rock Art Brewery

This unique brewery and gift store is located just north of Stowe, in nearby Morrisville. You can take a tour of the brewery to see the entire process from mashing to bottling, or you can head upstairs to the viewing area where you can sit and enjoy your samples while you watch. With 8 select beers on tap, the tap list is always rotating so no two visits to the brewery is ever the same!

Lost Nation Brewery

The mission here is simple: to produce honest beer. Based in a building that looks like an old saw mill, this Morrisville-based gem features brews inspired by lesser-known European style ales and lagers. Delicious pub food, a beer garden, and music make for a fun craft beer experience.

As an alternative to beer, this cider is the bomb! Made from locally grown apples, the 10 varieties of cider range from dry and preservative-free to zesty, fruity, and spicy pepper ciders. You can visit their tasting room on the Mountain Road in Stowe.

Four Points Brewery Tours

Stowe local, Rick Sokoloff, will be your personal guide as he picks you up at your rental property and drives you to the breweries of your choice. Included in the tour are snacks or appetizers, a flight of beer at each brewery, pick up, and drop off. Rick is also a mountain bike instructor and guide and offers a combination bike and brewery tour. What better way to check out the area’s ever-growing network of trails, and quench your thirst?

Ben and Jerry’s Factory Tours

See for yourself how it’s made! The world-famous ice cream, judged “the best in the world” by Time Magazine, is made just south of Stowe in Waterbury. Visit the factory for a tour, including free samples, merchandise, and, of course, an ice cream counter!

Cold Hollow Cider Mill

This is one of the largest cider mills in New England. Located in a historic Vermont barn, you can take a self-guided tour that shows how cider was made the old-fashioned way, with a rack and cloth press. Did you know that it takes 10 pounds of apples to make just one gallon of apple cider? Get free cider samples, available year-round from an 11,000-gallon vat, or try their delicious homemade cider donuts. The large gift shop has a huge selection of Vermont gifts, specialty food items, and cottage-industry products.

Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum

Located in a nearly 200-year-old former town Hall, skiers and non-skiers will enjoy seeing original lifts, clothes, and displays on the evolution of ski equipment. A large screen runs new and vintage ski films and raw footage all day.
