A Traditional Christmas in Stowe

An annual tradition for Stoweites and visitors alike, A Traditional Christmas in Stowe brightens up the town on some of our shortest days. Canoe/Kayak/Paddle Board Tours

The lakes and rivers that surround Stowe are the perfect place to canoe, kayak, or paddle board. Lake Elmore, Green River Reservoir, and Waterbury Reservoir are all within 20 minutes of Stowe. In partnership with Umiak Outfitters, we at Stowe Country Homes are pleased to be able to offer a wide-range of guided river tours. Catamount Fishing Adventures

Catamount is owned and operated by Willy Dietrich and he is the primary guide on all fishing tours. With year-round trips in and around Stowe, Willy offers fly-fishing, spin fishing, and ice fishing excursions. Cold Hollow Cider Mill

This is one of the largest cider mills in New England. Located in a historic Vermont barn, you can take a self-guided tour that shows how cider was made the old-fashioned way, with a rack and cloth press.

Did you know that it takes 10 pounds of apples to make just one gallon of apple cider?

Get free cider samples, available year-round from an 11,000-gallon vat, or try their delicious homemade cider donuts. The large gift shop has a huge selection of Vermont gifts, specialty food items, and cottage-industry products.

Craft Brew Races

Calling all craft beer connoisseurs—lace’em up! The Craft Brew Races begin with a fun 5k run through a course that is perfect for runners of all ages and abilities, winding through the forest and along the rec path crossing a series of quaint bridges before returning to the more-important-than-ever finish line. The afternoon ramps it up a notch with the beer festival featuring more than 30 local microbreweries, food trucks and great live music.

Craftsbury Outdoor Center

Located north of Stowe in Vermont’s unspoiled Northeast Kingdom, you’ll find some of the finest cross-country skiing in New England. A year-round destination on 400 acres, this non-profit specializes in exciting outdoor activities for the whole family. The winter season is magical in Craftsbury, offering guests more than just world-class cross-country skiing. Choose from snowshoeing, orienteering, ice skating, backcountry tours, animal tracking, nature studies, yoga, and more. There is also a certified massage therapist, a sauna, and a fitness room on site, and babysitting can be arranged with advance notice.
