Heady Trotter 4 Miler

The Alchemist Brewery, home of the coveted Heady Topper, puts another foot forward with their annual Heady Trotter 4 Miler—a benefit for Green Mountain Adaptive Sports. The race ends at The Alchemist for an afternoon of sampling their beer, food trucks, lawn games, awards, and live music. This family-friendly 4 Miler is a great excuse to spend an October weekend in Stowe, Vermont. Running clubs attending together receive extra swag!

 
Indigenous Peoples’ Day Rocks!

IPD Rocks Foundation and the Nulhegan Band of the Abenaki Nation presents a wonderful celebration of Indigenous People’s Day. Funds raised are donated to the Abenaki Helping Abenaki organization. Events include performances by Abenaki drummers, talks by preservationists, exhibitors, storytelling, and a wonderful array of indigenous artisan and food vendors. This excellent event was voted Top 10 in Vermont in 2022 by Vermont Chamber of Commerce.

 
Main Street Live

A summertime favorite of locals and visitors alike, Main Street Live is a fun family affair featuring artisan vendors, dining picnic style, and live music every Thursday during the summer months. An impressive line-up of musicians entertains the crowd—a melodic soundtrack to an old-fashioned and wholesome evening on the green. On select Sunday evenings during the summer, Stowe Performing Arts puts on a spectacular show in the picturesque meadow at Trapp Family Lodge. The von Trapp Brewing Bierhall at Trapp Family Lodge hosts Stowe’s annual Oktoberfest—a daylong celebration of Bavarian food and drink! Stowe Derby

“Stowe Derby is one of the oldest and most unique ski races in North America.” This iconic February Nordic ski race leads from the top of Mount Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak, to the town of Stowe, on one pair of skis! The challenging course is 20km long with a short course option for those who prefer. A raucous post-awards celebration is held, and everyone is encouraged to don their favorite derby hat! Stowe Jazz Festival

The Stowe Jazz Festival is a celebration of the many sub-genres of Jazz with performances scheduled over three days at various venues—each one of them free to the public with thanks to very generous donors and sponsors and hours of volunteer work. The SJF will be “presenting nothing but Jazz at our Festival each year; Be-bop, Brazilian jazz, Swing, Gypsy jazz, Progressive/electric jazz, Standards, Afro-Cuban jazz, instrumental and vocal artists alike.”

 
Stowe Jewish Film Festival

“The Stowe Jewish Film Festival (SJFF), a program of the Jewish Community of Greater Stowe, works with the intention of bringing community together, both internal and external. The British Invasion

The British Invasion is an annual September event in Stowe, Vermont that is enjoyed by all—a three-day weekend “celebration and salute to the great British motorcar and British lifestyle!” Classic British cars and motifs take over the town and culminates in a block party on Main Street, complete with British music, food, and drink. The car show draws up to 600 cars each year and is a friendly and fun way to get out and enjoy early fall in the mountains!

Vermont Maple Festival

Life is sweet in Vermont, but on the last weekend of April it gets a little sweeter. For three incredible days festivalgoers will celebrate the first harvest and Vermont’s most favorite “crop” with demonstrations, live entertainment, and an incredible collection of local arts and crafts. Located in the charming hamlet of St. Albans, the festival is three days of small-town charm featuring more than 60 vendors of local handicrafts, specialty foods, and craft innovations.

Vermont Pumpkin Chuckin celebrates a different use for these gourds—catapulting them! Pumpkin Chuckin in Stowe gives families a unique opportunity to engage in the hands-on process of building and testing a trebuchet or gravity-powered catapult. Using creativity and problem solving, contestants can come up with their own design to launch a pumpkin further than their competitors. Cash, prizes, and trophies are handed out to winners.

Winter Carnival

Celebrate winter in Stowe with ice carving classes, demonstrations, and professional competitions, silly snow sports like volleyball and golf, parties, dancing, live music, and winter stargazing. This town-wide celebration adds a touch of whimsy to the winter and is a great reason to get out and explore many of Stowe’s shops and eateries, many of which feature ice carvings. Winter Rendezvous

Stowe’s Winter Rendezvous is a winter pride festival celebrating LGBTQIA+. The timing coincides with the Winter Carnival and the events add even more fun—five days of outdoor winter activities, organized cocktail, pool, and dance parties, and drag bingo to name a few things to look forward to!
