Fall Events

Stowe Foliage Arts Festival

#

Vermont is legendary for its incredible tapestry of brilliant colors blazing across the autumn horizon. When the trees begin to turn colors, we celebrate with the Stowe Foliage Arts Festival—three days featuring over 150 local vendors highlighting the best of local crafts, food, and art, live music, demonstrations, and traditional craftwork. Sample local favorites like maple syrup, gourmet chocolates, and plenty of locally brewed beer.

The British Invasion

#

The British Invasion is an annual September event in Stowe, Vermont that is enjoyed by all—a three-day weekend “celebration and salute to the great British motorcar and British lifestyle!” Classic British cars and motifs take over the town and culminates in a block party on Main Street, complete with British music, food, and drink. The car show draws up to 600 cars each year and is a friendly and fun way to get out and enjoy early fall in the mountains!

Oktoberfest

#

The von Trapp Brewing Bierhall at Trapp Family Lodge hosts Stowe’s annual Oktoberfest—a daylong celebration of Bavarian food and drink! Join in on traditional sing-alongs and dances led by a live Oompah band, enjoy an abundance of authentic German food, and a great variety of locally brewed beer! This is a family-friendly celebration with a carnival like atmosphere, plenty of room to run and play, and loads of tasty treats!

Indigenous Peoples’ Day Rocks!

#

Stowe Vibrancy presents a wonderful celebration of Indigenous People’s Day in partnership with the Nalhegan Abenaki. Funds raised are donated to the Abenaki Helping Abenaki organization. Events include performances by Abenaki drummers, talks by preservationists, exhibitors, storytelling, and a wonderful array of indigenous artisan and food vendors. This excellent event was voted Top 10 in Vermont in 2022 by Vermont Chamber of Commerce.

Heady Trotter 4 Miler

#

The Alchemist Brewery, home of the coveted Heady Topper, puts another foot forward with their annual Heady Trotter 4 Miler—a benefit for Green Mountain Adaptive Sports. The race ends at The Alchemist for an afternoon of sampling their beer, food trucks, lawn games, awards, and live music. This family-friendly 4 Miler is a great excuse to spend an October weekend in Stowe, Vermont. Running clubs attending together receive extra swag!

Vermont Pumpkin Chuckin

#

Vermont Pumpkin Chuckin celebrates a different use for these gourds—catapulting them! Pumpkin Chuckin in Stowe gives families a unique opportunity to engage in the hands-on process of building and testing a trebuchet or gravity-powered catapult. Using creativity and problem solving, contestants can come up with their own design to launch a pumpkin further than their competitors. Cash, prizes, and trophies are handed out to winners.

Stowe Farmer’s Market

#

Every Sunday, from Spring through Fall, local artisans, bakers, farmers, cheesemakers, chefs, picklers, smoothie makers, crafters, and so much more gather to share their wares and treats with the community. The aromas alone will draw you in long before you catch site of the colorful scene. Pop in to grab some fresh flowers and veggies or stay for the music and prepared foods. This family-friendly event is popular with visitors and locals alike.
