Of course, most of these popular spots fill up fast, so a reservation is a good idea. Here are five of our favorite late-night hangout places in Vermont.
Looking for a local dive bar? Give Burt’s Irish Pub a try. The bar is Irish, but the kitchen is Latin American. It’s three floors of fun, with the bar on the main level, pool on the lower level, and an upper level for music events and private parties. While you drink, enjoy an empanada or taquito, rice fritters, Mexican street corn dog, jalapeno poppers, Reuben, Philly cheese steak or BBQ ribs.

Burgers, buffalo wings, beer! What more do you want? Doc’s is a popular, casual, comfy place in Vermont for great beer and pub fare. They’re known for their Blue Balls (risotto balls), Cod & Corn Fritters, and Cheddar Fritters. Recent specials have included Chimichurri Chicken and Mushroom Escabeche Tacos. Come for local craft brews, cocktails, and live music—plus maybe the largest selection of actual record albums in the state playing on two turntables!

Under new management and newly renovated with a large, open, covered deck, The Backyard is the place in Vermont to hang out with good friends and enjoy a good meal and a beer. With pool tables, beer ball, a punching machine, juke box, and a DJ on Friday and Saturdays, there’s always something going on. Their menu features plenty of tacos, smash burgers, tater tots, and other comfort bar food. Try the Pulled Pork Tots or Poutine Tater Tots!

Stowe’s party spot! They feature award-winning gourmet pizza and sushi, an interesting combo that works. If you’re not in the mood for pizza or sushi, just try their Ahi Tuna Tacos, a burger, or their Vermont Cheese Steak. Ask for a seat with a river view, outside or inside. Great food, great beer and a great view! It’s been voted #1 après ski bar in North America by USA Today readers for good reason.
